Refunds and cancellations.
What happens when a sale does not go to plan.
Listing fees
Listing fees pay for placement in the marketplace and are generally non-refundable once a listing is published. If a listing is rejected at moderation, the fee is not charged.
Cancelling before collection
A deposit reserves an animal that the breeder then holds for you, so deposits are not refundable simply because a buyer changes their mind. A deposit is refunded only where the buyer provides clear evidence that the seller did not honour these terms, for example that the animal was materially different from its listing or was not made available for collection as agreed. HogMatch, LLC decides refund requests on the evidence provided, and where a refund is approved it is returned to the original payment method.
Failed pickup
Where a buyer does not collect within the agreed period and does not make contact, the seller may relist the animal. Agree a collection deadline in writing at the point of sale.
Misrepresentation
If an animal is materially different from its listing, contact HogMatch within 48 hours of collection, or before collection if the difference is apparent earlier, with the listing URL, photographs and any paperwork. Sellers agree to accurate description as a condition of approval. HogMatch, LLC reviews the evidence from both sides and decides whether the deposit is refunded; it may also suspend a seller who has misdescribed an animal. Buyers and sellers remain free to resolve matters directly with each other.
Death or injury
Risk generally passes to the buyer at collection. Agree in advance who carries the risk in transit, and consider insurance for a high-value animal.
Disputes and chargebacks
Raise a dispute with HogMatch first. Chargebacks and payment disputes are ultimately governed by the payment provider’s own rules.
