For breeders

Show the pig clearly.

Good media does not need a studio. It needs daylight, a clean background, a calm animal and a clear view of the details a buyer cannot inspect in person.

Photo checklist

  • Clean the lens before you begin.
  • Use open shade or even daylight.
  • Keep the full pig in frame.
  • Photograph both sides plus front and rear views.
  • Stand at the pig’s level instead of shooting down.
  • Avoid heavy filters, screenshots, text overlays and other companies’ banners.
  • Upload current media of the exact animal in the listing.

Video checklist

  • Use a current video of the exact pig.
  • Ten to twenty seconds is plenty.
  • Record in landscape when practical.
  • Show the pig walking naturally in both directions.
  • Include front and rear movement.
  • Keep the camera steady and the pig in frame.
  • No music, private documents, license plates or unrelated branding.

Getting it right

  • Shoot in the morning or late afternoon. Midday sun blows out a white pig and hides a black one.
  • Get the pig on clean ground. Mud and clutter read as a careless operation whether that is fair or not.
  • Crouch to the animal’s level. Photographing down at a pig makes it look small and shallow.
  • Fill the frame. A pig thirty feet away in a big pen tells a buyer nothing.

What loses you a sale

  • One blurry photo taken through a gate.
  • Photos of a different animal, or old photos at a different weight.
  • Heavy filters. Buyers assume you are hiding color or condition.
  • No photo of the pig standing. If the only shot is lying down, buyers assume there is a structural reason.

Uploading

Upload photos and video straight from your phone on the listing form. Upload an MP4, MOV, M4V or WebM straight from your phone, up to 90 seconds. HogMatch converts it for playback, so it can take a few minutes to appear on the listing.
